Konnan Recalls Conversation With Colt Cabana About CM Punk Issues

Colt Cabana admitted Punk wouldn't even talk to him

Konnan has recalled speaking to Colt Cabana about his issues with CM Punk, noting that Cabana appeared to know that he wouldn't be booked in All Elite Wrestling much after Punk was signed by the promotion.

"Let me tell you. When I saw Colt Cabana backstage, I remember asking him, I go, 'Yo, what's up with you now that Punk's back?' He was like, 'Yeah man, we're not really talking.' I go, 'Come on, dude. After all these years and you guys were boys?' He would kind of look around like he knew - now when I look back - he knew that he was probably gonna get the axe from Punk somehow, or Tony did it to make Punk happy, or Punk asked him. Now when I think back to that day, I remember telling him, 'Bro, you can't even sit down and say, 'Hey let's reset our relationship?' He goes, 'Nah, man. He won't even talk to me,'" Konnan revealed on his Keepin' It 100 podcast.

CM Punk and Colt Cabana were previously best friends but their friendship collapsed following a civil lawsuit filed against Punk and Cabana by now-former WWE doctor Chris Amann. Both Punk and Cabana ended up suing each other over legal fees, a matter that was settled in 2019.

Their issues would resurface in AEW, with speculation suggesting that Punk was involved in AEW's initial plans not to renew Cabana's contract and his subsequent banishment to Ring of Honor earlier this year. Punk and Tony Khan denied that was the case but Cabana resurfaced on AEW TV last week at a point when CM Punk's future with the promotion is in doubt.
