Kota Ibushi Comments On In-Ring Return

Kota Ibushi has spoken after making his in-ring return

After a last-minute hiccup, Kota Ibushi finally returned to a wrestling ring over WrestleMania weekend, with the inaugural IWGP World Heavyweight Champion wrestling back-to-back shows as part of GCW’s The Collective weekend festivities on March 30 and March 31.

Ibushi defeated Mike Bailey and Joey Janela on consecutive nights, and Ibushi passed the following message on to Dark Puroresu Flowsion on Twitter:

“Thank you all. I am a professional wrestler. I am a pro-wrestler in everyday life, in the ring, and whenever I am playing. I am very happy to be able to wrestle again,” said Ibushi.

Ibushi had been out of action since October 2021, having injured his shoulder during a bout with Kazuchika Okada in the G1 Climax Final. In the following 18 months, reports suggested that the damage was so bad that Ibushi may never wrestle again, but thankfully that isn’t the case.

The question now is what’s next for Ibushi, with the ‘Golden Star’ a free agent after the expiration of his New Japan deal in January, with both AEW and WWE reportedly heavily interested on bringing the world-renowned star on board.
