Kota Ibushi Shares Post Surgery Injury Update
Kota Ibushi has shared an update after surgery
Jan 18, 2024
All Elite Wrestling star Kota Ibushi has shared an update on his condition, after the ‘Golden Star’ underwent surgery earlier this week.
Ibushi recently wrestled Naomichi Marafuji for Pro Wrestling NOAH’s The New Year show on January 2, with Ibushi performing on a broken ankle - an injury made worse during the match.
The ‘Golden Star’ underwent surgery on January 17, and following the procedure posted the following to Twitter/X:
“Apologies for the delayed update. It seems that my ligament was completely torn (and another area was already quite weak). My leg has been fully immobilised in a cast up to my knee. Now, I need to decide what to do about my left side, while my right side requires treatments every two weeks. My shoulder isn't in perfect condition either, so I plan to use this time to fully fix everything. I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused. Moving forward, I have a lot to think about and decisions to make,” posted Ibushi.
Ibushi’s match with Marafuji was his first singles bout in Japan since October 2021, with Ibushi only returning to in-ring competition in Summer 2023 after taking time off to heal what was at the time believed to be a potentially carer ending shoulder injury.
