KUSHIDA Wants To Be The Driving Force For IMPACT Wrestling

The 17-year pro competes for the IMPACT World Title at Rebellion

New Japan and IMPACT Wrestling star KUSHIDA has the chance to make history at the upcoming IMPACT Rebellion pay-per-view.

The Time Splitter will clash with Steve Maclin for the vacant IMPACT World Championship on Sunday, after Josh Alexander was forced to relinquish the gold due to suffering a torn triceps. Maclin was originally scheduled to wrestle Alexander, before his injury.

KUSHIDA has his eye set on walking away with the title, which would be the first heavyweight title of his career.

Discussing the match with SI.com, the six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion said (via a translator):

"This is the opportunity I need. I thank the gods of pro wrestling for giving it to meI've never gotten the top championship. That means you are the face of the company. I want to be the driving force behind the company. I want to bring IMPACT all over the world. Wrestling for the world title is a dream. I can't wait to make it come true."

Rebellion will be available via FITE and YouTube PPV (in select countries).
