Latest On Gable Steveson's WWE NXT Status

An update on Gable Steveson's WWE NXT status from Shawn Michaels

Gable Steveson's status with WWE NXT has been up in the air in recent months and the Olympic gold medallist has not appeared on TV since his match with Baron Corbin at NXT Great American Bash went to a double count-out. Steveson has continued to wrestle for the company, though, and he has had four matches at NXT house shows in September.

WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels has provided an update on Steveson's run in NXT, saying during the pre-No Mercy media call:

"We certainly have every intention of using Gable. For me, honestly, Gable obviously has a number of outside commitments and it's just me trying to figure out what's the best way that I could work with that, with him. I obviously don't want to get in the way of any of his personal goals. That's obviously what we're doing now, just trying to find out... we've had him on live events, which have been fantastic down here in South Florida and Central Florida. Just making sure that I know his schedule and get as best organised as we can and then sit down with him and figure out how we want to map things out going into the future. Everything has been fantastic, he's just sometimes a pretty busy young man and I want to do everything I can to be conscious of that and work with him the best way possible going forward."

Michaels did not reveal when Steveson might return to WWE NXT. The Olympic gold medallist was originally scheduled to compete at the Amateur Wrestling World Championships but he pulled out of the tournament in what was said to be a WWE decision. WWE also may not allow Steveson to return to NCAA wrestling or compete at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
