Latest On Mercedes Moné Possibly Returning To WWE

How likely is a return to WWE for the former Sasha Banks?

The shock return of CM Punk to WWE at Survivor Series has led many to speculate on the return of other former Superstars, particularly Mercedes Moné.

Aaron Varble of SEScoops has an update on the situation, reporting:

"I have spoken to sources within WWE who have confirmed to me on three separate occasions over the past 30 days that there are no contract talks between Mercedes Mone and WWE. The creative team is also not discussing any ideas for her return to the company. That being said, this is a much different time, especially how information flows within WWE. I was told by a tenured member of the WWE team on December 12th that 'Sasha Banks' name will only come up when there's a deal.' Per one source, 'There's no deal, or no deal yet.'"

Known in WWE as Sasha Banks, Moné walked out in May 2022 under a cloud of discontent alongside Naomi (now Trinity, current IMPACT Knockouts World Champion.) The pair had a widely reported creative dispute with Vince McMahon in the midst of their reign as WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.

After making a surprise debut appearance for New Japan Pro-Wrestling at 2023's Wrestle Kingdom, Mercedes enjoyed a two-month reign as IWGP Women's Champion. She is currently recovering from an injury sustained in the final of a tournament to become the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women's Champion.

Instead of a WWE return, plans are reportedly in place for Mercedes Moné and All Elite Wrestling to work together when she returns to the ring.
