Lio Rush Cleared For In-Ring Return

Lio Rush set to return soon

After being on the shelf for the best part of nine months, former WWE and AEW star Lio Rush has announced that he has been cleared for an in-ring return.

Taking to Twitter, Rush simply Tweeted “CLEARED” and was subsequently announced as the fifth entrant for RevPro’s upcoming British J-Cup 2022 tournament.

Rush last wrestled in January at the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Battle of Los Angeles event. After defeating Jack Cartwheel in the first round, Rush picked up a shoulder injury during his second-round match against Buddy Mathews.

Rush’s career has been marred by several periods of inactivity due to retirements and injuries. Indeed, before his injury in January, Rush had only been back in the industry for a few months having retired in May 2021 after his debut appearance for AEW at Double or Nothing.

Having now been cleared for in-ring action, it seems the seeds are being planted for a Rush vs. Taiji Ishimori feud in NJPW, with IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Ishimori issuing a future title shot to Rush during a recent backstage promo.
