Major Heel Turn Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

AEW Dynamite saw a major heel turn go down

Change was in the air during AEW Dynamite Beach Break on July 3, with a major heel turn taking place on the show.

The main event of Dynamite saw AEW International Champion Will Ospreay putting the title on the line against Daniel Garcia, with Garcia taking Ospreay to the limit but ultimately falling short. Whilst Ospreay was the first to console and offer respect to Garcia, he was soon followed by MJF, with the former AEW World Champion raising Garcia’s hand in the ring.

MJF’s true colours came to the fore, though, with ‘The Devil’ kicking Garcia in the groin, before viciously laying into the PWG World Champion. Friedman bloodied Garcia and Garcia’s mentor Matt Menard, screaming down the camera about ‘restoring the feeling’ of AEW. Despite Christopher Daniels and AEW officials trying to stop MJF’s assault, an incensed Friedman fought back and continued victimising Garcia, nailing a Bret’s rope Tombstone piledriver.

Will Ospreay made his return to the ringside area to confront MJF, but before he could get his hands on ‘The Salt of the Earth’, MJF hightailed it through the crowd, arguing and fighting members of the audience.

It looks as though MJF’s face run has officially come to an end, with the ‘Scumbag’ having organically turned in Summer 2023 during his run with Adam Cole. MJF returned to AEW at Double or Nothing in May 2024.
