Major Nic Nemeth Match Set For NJPW Sakura Genesis

Nic Nemeth will have a major match at New Japan Pro-Wrestling Sakura Genesis on Saturday, April 6 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. 

NJPW have announced that Nic Nemeth will defend the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Nemeth won the belt on day one of the New Beginning in Sapporo, defeating David Finlay in the main event of the show. Nemeth teamed with Ryusuke Taguchi to defeat Finlay and Gedo on day two and the former Dolph Ziggler challenged Tanahashi post-match. The NJPW President accepted the challenge from the Japanese commentary desk. 

The only other match currently confirmed for Sakura Genesis is Tetsuya Naito vs. the winner of the New Japan Cup for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. NJPW will hold the New Japan Cup from March 7 until March 20. 

Nic Nemeth will defend the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title before Sakura Genesis on March 8 at TNA Sacrifice. Nemeth has been a part of TNA since his debut at Hard To Kill on January 13. 

Nemeth had previously been a part of WWE for almost 20 years but was released by the company in September 2023, which came after he had asked for his release on several occasions.
