Major Title Change Occurs At WWE Elimination Chamber

Setting the stage for WrestleMania?

The 2021 WWE Elimination Chamber concluded with a major title change, as the WWE championship changed hands in the final match of the night.

The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on a prone Drew McIntyre, to capture his second WWE championship.

McIntyre had just retained the WWE title in the Elimination Chamber match, entering from the number three position, and scoring the deciding pinfall on AJ Styles.

After the match, McIntyre was attacked by Bobby Lashley (who had lost the US title earlier in the night to Matt Riddle in a triple threat match). After Lashley sufficiently beat McIntyre down, The Miz hit the ring with the briefcase.

McIntyre kicked out of a DDT, but Miz followed with a Skull Crushing Finale to win the title.

In addition to being Miz's second WWE title win, it's also the second he won via cash-in. The first came over Randy Orton in November 2010.

McIntyre's second WWE title reign concludes at 97 days. He previously defeated Orton for the championship on an episode of Raw this past November.
