Malakai Black Reveals A Lot Of People Didn't Like Him In WWE NXT

Malakai Black was seemingly unpopular in WWE NXT

Before making his way to All Elite Wrestling, Malakai Black worked for WWE as Aleister Black, with his greatest success in the company coming as part of the classic black and gold era of NXT.

In NXT, Black had a reign as NXT Champion, a position that didn’t earn him many friends as he revealed to Bobby Fish on The Undisputed podcast:

“I remember when I was the quote-unquote, like, chosen one in NXT and I did not have a lot of friends because everybody wanted to be the chosen one, you know what I mean? I had a lot of people that did not like me because of that and I was just going like, ‘I’m sorry guys.’ I didn’t do anything on purpose. But it was just the way that the industry was at the time and what the quote-unquote machine picked at that time,” revealed Black.

Black held the title for 108 days, winning it from Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in April 2018, before dropping it to Tommaso Ciampa on an episode of NXT TV that July.
