Matches Announced For NJPW Power Struggle 2023

The NJPW Power Struggle 2023 card starts to take shape

New Japan Pro Wrestling have announced several matches for the upcoming Power Struggle event on November 4, with the event once again taking place at Osaka’s Prefectural Gymnasium.

With a singles clash for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship set for Wrestle Kingdom on January 4 2024, champion SANADA and challenger Tetsuya Naito will face off in tag action at power struggle, with SANADA joined by Yuya Uemura, whilst Naito will be joined by  Reiwa Musketeer Yota Tsuji.

Two championship matches have also been announced for the show. First, IWGP Jr. heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi putting the belt up against Bullet Club’s Taiji Ishimori. Ishimori returned from injury at Destruction in Ryogoku to lay ‘The Ticking Timebomb’ out following a successful title defence, with Ishimori wanting revenge after suffering a neck injury in a bout with Hiromu at the Best of the Super Juniors in May 2023.

The NEVER Openweight 6 Man Championships will also be on the line, with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, and Tomohiro Ishii putting the belts on the line against TMDK’s Zack Sabre Jr., Shane Haste, and Mikey Nicholls.

This will be the first Power Struggle since 2021, with the last event headlined by the classic IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match between Shingo Takagi and Will Ospreay. The 2023 edition will also serve as the finals of the Super Jr. Tag League 2023.
