NJPW held their Windy City Riot event last night in Chicago, Illinois, and some of the build began taking place for the promotion’s next visit to the US, which comes in the form of NJPW Resurgence. NJPW will take over the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California on May 9 for the show.
On last night’s Windy City Riot show, AZM and Mina Shirakawa battled to become the new number one contender for the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship, but the bout ended in a double count out. Shortly before the end of the event, it was revealed by Rocky Romero that both women were now number one contenders, and a triple threat will take place at Resurgence, with Mercedes Mone putting her title on the line.
Elsewhere, The Young Bucks appeared via video on NJPW Windy City Riot, issuing a challenge to the Bullet Club War Dogs. However, with the pair being outnumbered, they teased the arrival of two ‘OG friends’ to team up with them in an alliance that would be ‘too sweet’, hinting at the return of Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows of The Good Brothers after their recent release from WWE.
