Matt Cardona Returns To NWA, Wants A Title Match

Matt Cardona is back in the NWA

Matt Cardona has been absent from the NWA for two months, with him previously only returning for two matches briefly in August. Prior to that, he hadn’t been present since early on in the year.

At the NWA Samhain PPV event last night, Cardona made a shock comeback by aiding Rush Freeman to defeat Brady Pierce. He was confronted by NWA president Billy Corgan after running down several wrestlers on the mic. Cardona demanded to be added to the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title main event, with the reasoning that he never lost the belt.

Cardona was a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, but was forced to relinquish the belt due to injury in 2022. Cardona has since challenged for the gold, losing once in a triple threat match, and also in a singles match against Tyrus. Corgan denied Cardona’s request, and this was followed up with Kamille laying out Cardona after he teased an attack.

Later on in the night, Cardona aided EC3 in his world title defence, and the champion agreed to a match for the gold at some point down the line.
