Matt Cardona Wins The NWA World Heavyweight Title

Cardona controls the Ten Pounds of Gold

Matt Cardona is the new NWA World Heavyweight champion, after defeating Trevor Murdoch in the main event of NWA PowerrrTrip on Saturday night in Oak Grove, KY.

The finish saw Cardona land his Radio Silence on Murdoch. The match will air this Tuesday on NWA Powerrr.

Cardona debuted in the NWA at Hard Times 2 on December 4, attacking Murdoch following his successful title defense against Mike Knox.

Cardona is now in possession of five active championship belts: the NWA World title, Impact Wrestling's Digital Media title, both the Absolute and Intense championships of the Cleveland-based AIW promotion, and his self-created Internet title that he won back from Effy at Game Changer Wrestling card in Atlantic City in October. Cardona is also the "unofficial" ECW Television champion after defeating Rhino at a GCW card last month.

For Murdoch, his reign as NWA World champion ends after 167 days. He ended the near three-year reign of Nick Aldis at the NWA 73rd Anniversary show on August 29, a match in which Murdoch wagered his career.
