Matt Cardona Would Love To Be Part Of John Cena's 2025 WWE Retirement Tour

Matt Cardona wants to face John Cena one last time

With John Cena set to retire from WWE following a 2025 sendoff tour, attention has turned to who the 16-time former world champion could square off with during his final run.

A recent report noted that many within WWE are hoping to work with Big Match John before he calls it a day, but those wishing for a match with Cena are not limited to current WWE stars.

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Matt Cardona (FKA Zack Ryder) is angling to wrestle Cena one more time. During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Cardona said:

"I would love to get in the ring [with Cena]. I've definitely grown as a man and performer [since we last wrestled]. All these years later, I'd like to see John Cena versus The Deathmatch King Matt Cardona in a WWE ring."

Cena and Cardona feuded in 2011, during an infamous storyline that also involved Kane and Eve Torres. The last time the two men collided in the ring was on the May 25, 2015 episode of Raw, where Cardona unsuccessfully answered Cena's United States Championship Open Challenge.

Cena himself has claimed he is not interested in choosing his opponents for his retirement tour. Cardona, meanwhile, is currently sidelined with a torn pec.
