John Cena is not interested in personally picking the opponents he'll face during his WWE retirement run, according to a tweet from WrestlePurists.
The post reads:
"We heard that John Cena saying he has no interest in hand-picking opponents is 100% legit his stance for this last run. Many talent already angling to get a match (as reported by @Fightful) and he’s at least willing to work any and everyone."
This comes following Cena's surprise announcement at last weekend's Money in the Bank pay-per-view in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, stating that he'll retire after a last run with the company in 2025. He mentioned a handful of shows he's set to appear at - the WWE Raw Netflix debut episode, the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41 - before later confirming at the post-show press conference that he intends to make "30 to 40" dates.
Cena's latest match saw him team up with Miz and R-Truth to defeat the Judgment Day on the Raw after WrestleMania 40. His last singles match was a defeat to Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel 2023 in Saudi Arabia.
