Matt Hardy Recalls Vince McMahon Saying There Was Too Much Wrestling On WWE TV

Matt Hardy provides an insight into Vince McMahon's booking philosophy in WWE.

On a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the titular AEW star discussed Vince McMahon's attitude towards the amount of actual wrestling on WWE TV.

The topic arose when Hardy was asked about McMahon's opinion on the importance of wins and losses in wrestling, to which he said Vince rarely cared about them. He then explained:

"There were times where Vince McMahon would say, 'There's too much wrestling on this show!' I'm sure if he watched AEW, he'd say 'There's too much wrestling on that show.'

"[Vince] views it as sports entertainment and he's more concerned with the stories and characters [...] Tony Khan views pro wrestling as a more traditional, old-school type of pro wrestling where what happens in the ring is very important and it has true consequences."

Matt recently wrestled on the AEW Double or Nothing 'Buy-In' pre-show, teaming with HOOK and brother Jeff to defeat Ethan Page and The Gunns. Fittingly, given his recent comments, the match did indeed have direct consequences in kayfabe. As a result of the victory, Matt now owns Ethan Page's contract.
