Matt Hardy Teases NWA Title Match With Matt Cardona
The two went back and forth on social media
Matt Hardy has teased a potential NWA Title match with Matt Cardona, ahead of a meeting between The Hardy Boyz and the team of Cardona & Brian Myers.
After Matt and Jeff released a video hyping that match, Cardona responded with a tweet saying he is looking forward to beating the Hardyz.
Matt then responded, saying he's going to 'whip' Cardona's ass when they meet, before coming to the NWA and taking the reigning NWA Champion's title back to the Hardy Compound.
Cardona won the Ten Pounds of Gold by beating Trevor Murdoch at NWA PowerrrTrip on February 12. He is next set to defend the title against former NWA Champion Nick Aldis at NWA Crockett Cup on March 19.
Hardy is a current member of the AEW roster and has many dates lined up with brother Jeff as part of their upcoming reunion tour, which is being billed as their 'final run' as a team.
Matt Hardy and Matt Cardona have never squared off in a singles match.
Their only in-ring interaction of real note came in a pair of non-televised six-man tag matches during WWE's WrestleMania Revenge Tour in 2008.
