The CM Punk era of AEW Collision was certainly an experience, with it being reported back at the time that AEW were allowing Punk to block certain wrestlers from the show, keeping more of a distinct separation between the rosters of Collision and Dynamite. The incidents regarding Punk’s time on Collision also led to the eventual lawsuit filed by Ryan Nemeth against AEW, Tony Khan and CM Punk. Matt Hardy is another name who believes he was affected by Punk’s influence on Collision.
Speaking on his Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy spoke on an incident in which he was stopped from appearing alongside Ethan Page on Collision, and deemed Punk responsible.
“I talk with Tony, and Tony’s like, ‘Yes, I want you tomorrow, be out in the corner with Ethan. I definitely want you there.’ They say, ‘Just heard that you’re not needed for tomorrow’s event.’ I was like, ‘What do you mean I’m not needed? I just talked to Tony three hours ago, and he said I’m in and he was excited.’ I don’t have this on authority, so I don’t know, but like, someone stopped that from happening, and there’s only I couldn’t imagine, it’s someone besides Punk, because Punk was going to be there. That was his show, right?”
Hardy also recently commented on wanting one last run in WWE alongside his brother Jeff Hardy, meaning that an interaction with CM Punk could in fact happen at some point. When it comes to those who were affected on Collision, QT Marshall was another who spoke out about his experiences.
