Matt Riddle celebrating with the MLW World Heavyweight Title

There have always been talks amongst fans over which WWE superstars are legit tough guys, fantasising over real fights and who would do well in a mixed martial arts environment. The likes of Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Batista and Bobby Lashley are among the many who have tried their hands at MMA, to varying levels of success.

Another name who has competed in both environments is Matt Riddle, who came to professional wrestling after being released from the UFC. In an interview with Sportskeeda, Riddle spoke on who he thinks would thrive in the UFC environment, singling out former amateur wrestler and Olympic bronze medallist Chad Gable.

“Well, not CM Punk, no disrespect, but not him. He already did it. It wasn’t good. No disrespect. I think somebody I think that would be really good if he worked on Jiu-Jitsu, would be somebody like Chad Gable. I think Chad Gable could probably transition to mixed martial arts and dominate this. He is a high-level wrestler. If he gets a couple of jits guys, a couple strikers, he will smash them and wipe the mat with them. So I think him.”

Both Otis and Angelo Dawkins were also thrown into the mix by Riddle. The former United States Champion also discussed working with the likes of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, calling them hard to work with.
