Mercedes Moné parted ways with WWE in 2022, walking out of the company amidst creative frustrations revolving around the women’s tag team division. She would eventually wind up in AEW, where she’s gone on a lengthy undefeated run, reigning as TBS Champion (in addition to an array of other titles she’s picked up around the wrestling world too).
When it comes to her leaving WWE, Moné has never shown an ounce of regret, recently doubling down in the latest edition of her Moné Mag by declaring it something that improved her life.
“Growing up, WWE was everything to me. I never imagined my life without it. But over time, I’ve come to realize that it’s not WWE I can’t live without; it’s pro wrestling itself. I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the person who sparked this journey for me. Because of that pivotal moment, my life changed for the absolute better. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel grateful for that decision. It pushed me to new heights, matured me into a strong-willed CEO, and empowered me to take control of my life and future. I’m especially thankful for all my fans who have stood by me throughout this journey.”
Moné won the Owen Hart Tournament at the recent Double Or Nothing 2025 event, securing her first AEW World Title match at AEW All In: Texas, where she’ll do battle with Toni Storm. It was reported that this plan had been in the works for many months leading up to All In.
