Mercedes Moné Doesn't Believe There Should Be Competition Between Companies

Mercedes Moné isn't a fan of tribalism and competition between WWE and AEW

Earlier this week, Tony Khan commented that jibes and shots between AEW and WWE were a part of healthy competition. However, not everyone in AEW agrees with this sentiment of competitiveness, and one of those is Mercedes Moné, who notably walked out of WWE back in 2022 amidst creative frustrations, and has since signed a big money deal with AEW.

Despite having plenty of reasons to not be all too fond of WWE, Moné spoke in an interview with US Weekly and stated that she did not believe that there should be competition between wrestling companies.

“I feel like there should be no competition when it’s between companies. It just needs to be competition between the wrestlers, seeing who wants to be the main event of the show, to make the most money. I’m competing with everybody here in AEW to let them know I’m the face of the company. I’m not competing with any other company.”

She went on to state that the internet is a cause for tribalism between AEW and WWE, and that when in person, most just prefer to sit back and enjoy whatever wrestling is on their screens or in front of them in arenas.
