Mercedes Mone Has No 'Creative Control' Within AEW

Mercedes Moné has been one of the biggest signings for All Elite Wrestling in 2024, with the former Sasha Banks signing a reported mega money deal before debuting at the special Big Business edition of Dynamite in March.

Moné had claimed earlier in 2024 that she had ‘creative control’ over her character, but a new report from Fightful Select suggests this isn’t 100% the case, with it more likely that Moné has significant influence over her character and creative rather than out-and-out creative control.

The difference means that Moné will have the ear of Tony Khan and AEW creative, but will not be allowed to outright decide what she will or won’t do - with a creative control clause something Hulk Hogan famously had in WCW, and we all know how Hollywood’s WCW run went don’t we.

The current TBS Champion has put on several highly regarded matches over the recent weeks, with Moné’s successful title defence against Kris Statlander at Worlds End on December 28 one of the standout matches of the pay per view.

Moné’s next major match will be a winner takes all bout pitting her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship against Mina Shirakawa’s RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty in the Tokyo Dome on January 5.
