Mercedes Moné Issues First Comments Following NJPW Debut

Mercedes Moné made her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17

It was the worst kept secret in recent wrestling history, but at Wrestle Kingdom 17 Mercedes Moné made her official NJPW debut, confronting IWGP Women's Champion KAIRI after her successful defence against Tam Nakano.

Moné challenged KAIRI to a title match at NJPW Battle in the Valley, and during a Wrestle Kingdom press conference, Moné elaborated on why she has gone straight for KAIRI:

“I'm interested in many wrestlers, but the reason I decided to fight KAIRI-san in the first place is because we have a 'past.' February 18th, San Jose, New Japan I think it will be the best match in Stardom history, so please look forward to it,” said Moné.

The former Sasha Banks and Kairi Sane wrestled on several occasions during their time in WWE, with KAIRI having picked up the win in their only singles match, although it was a DQ win.

As well as KAIRI, Moné also mentioned that she wants to wrestle the likes of AZM and Miyu Yamashita as she looks to ‘raise the value of the Yen’ in Japan as she looks to hit the ground running in NJPW and STARDOM.
