Mick Foley Reveals What CM Punk Told Him After WWE Walk Out In 2014

CM Punk reached out to Mick Foley after walking out of WWE almost a decade ago.

CM Punk and Mick Foley have had a relationship going back to the mid-2000s, when the Hardcore Legend made appearances for various independent leagues Punk was working for, most notably Ring of Honor, with the WWE Hall of Famer even recommended Punk (along with Samoa Joe) to WWE executives at the time.

Their friendship endured through the Straight-Edge Superstar's WWE tenure and was strong enough that Foley received a text from Punk not long after he walked out of the company in early 2014. During a recent appearance on The Bump, Foley revealed what Punk told him at the time.

"I remember getting a text from Punk when he left after the Rumble [in 2014]. He was upset, and he and I were pretty close back then. He said, 'I've realised the only way to really make it there, to earn your respect, is to go somewhere else, and then come back'. He did. It was what, nine years ago? Ten years next month. He's bigger than ever. No denial of his talent, and that he is going to raise people. People are going to want to not only hang with him, but whether they realise it or not, impress him, and that's how levels get raised," Foley said.

Punk's first WWE matches in almost a decade are scheduled to take place against Dominik Mysterio during WWE's post-Christmas tour of non-televised live events.
