TNA Wrestling may soon need to crown a new world champion as Mike Santana's contract with the promotion, unless an extension is signed, is due to expire very soon.
PWInsider has reported that Santana's current deal with TNA is scheduled to expire at some point in July 2026. The exact date of the contract expiry is unknown, however.
Santana is currently in his second run with TNA, having returned to the promotion at Rebellion 2024. His deal was originally set to run out at the end of 2025 but the 35-year-old quietly put pen to paper on a contract extension at the time.
Santana is currently in his second reign as TNA World Champion, having regained the title from Frankie Kazarian at the Thursday Night IMPACT premiere on AMC in January 2026. Santana has defended the title against Kazarian in a rematch, as well as the likes of Steve Maclin, Rich Swann and Eddie Edwards.
If Mike Santana and TNA Wrestling are in talks over another contract extension is unknown. WWE were previously interested in the TNA World Champion, though, with the company first expressing interest in Santana in the summer of 2025 following his appearances on NXT TV.
Another top TNA star who may follow Mike Santana out of the promotion is Leon Slater, with reports noting the former X-Division Champion is expected to sign with WWE or AEW when his TNA deal expires later this year.
