After a day and a half of stories that indicated uncertainty regarding his participation at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas, MJF worked the opening match of the pay-per-view, where he lost a brief match to Wardlow.

Wardlow won after hitting ten powerbombs, and pinning MJF with one foot on his chest. Late in the short match, MJF pulled out his Dynamite Diamond Ring, only to have it immediately confiscated by referee Bryce Remsburg. Wardlow then feigned a conciliatory handshake with MJF before beginning the so-termed "powerbomb symphony".

After the match, MJF was fitted with a neckbrace and stretchered out of ringside.

As a result of the match, Wardlow is now free from MJF's employ, and can sign with All Elite Wrestling. Wardlow even received the trademark "is All Elite" graphic, which was shown on the arena Tron.

On Saturday, MJF no-showed his scheduled meet and greet at AEW Fan Fest. Later in the night, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that MJF reportedly had a flight scheduled out of Las Vegas, for unknown reasons.
