MJF Removed From AEW Roster Page

MJF gone from AEW?

All Elite Wrestling look to be playing into the Bidding War of 2024 with MJF.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman was removed from the AEW roster page at midnight on January 1. He is not expected to be actually out of the promotion, though, and Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported "no one we've spoken with in the company believes he is actually gone and this is just storyline playing off his 'war of '24' stuff that he's referenced forever."

MJF has stated for well over a year that he would be subject to the Bidding War of 2024 between AEW and WWE for his services. The belief is, however, that he has already re-signed with All Elite Wrestling, possibly as far back as 2022. Most in the promotion also believe he re-signed over a year ago.

The expectation is MJF will be taking time off after he dropped the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at Worlds End on December 30. He has been dealing with a torn labrum since Full Gear in November.

Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that MJF is currently debating whether or not to undergo shoulder surgery. An operation would reportedly keep him out of action for "a long time."
