MJF Still Believed To Have Re-Signed With AEW Despite Latest Claims

MJF, in fact, won't be leaving AEW in the new year

The bidding war of 2024 is still real to MJF. The AEW World Champion claimed during an appearance on the SI Media podcast that his contract is still set to expire on January 1.

"I've never lied. January 1, 2024. When stuff like that gets leaked out, it makes me laugh because I remember something got leaked out about Cody having secretly re-signed, and then he showed up. Somebody got leaked out about, you know, CM Punk and Tony Khan, you know, actually fine, everything. You know? I think fans leak out things that they want to be true. I love AEW. I want to stay in AEW. After this pay-per-view, it's time to assess the situation from a professional setting," Maxwell Jacob Friedman said.

Despite MJF's latest claims, Haus of Wrestling has reported that WWE don't expect the AEW World Champion to be available in the new year. One WWE higher-up simply stated Friedman's latest comments were "storyline" while another WWE higher-up reiterated that they heard MJF re-signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2022, possibly before his return at All Out as The Devil.

The belief is MJF is "locked in" to AEW and he received a huge deal when he signed a contract extension last year.

MJF's next AEW World Title defence is set for AEW Worlds End on December 30. MJF will take on Samoa Joe.
