More Details On Jon Moxley's AEW Contract Extension

Moxley is signed through 2027

AEW announced via press release on Friday that World champion Jon Moxley has signed a five year contract extension with the organization, and will be with AEW through 2027.

Fightful Select has provided details on Moxley's contract situation. Though some sources claim that Moxley had at one point been wrestling in AEW without a contract, Fightful has not confirmed that. However, they do say that AEW, "...would do whatever it took to keep him with the company for the rest of his career," thus they invested heavily in Moxley with this new deal.

One detail from the release notes that Moxley would wrestle exclusively with AEW and its "international partners", which includes New Japan. However, Moxley has also wrestled for a number of American indies (including Game Changer Wrestling, where he is currently the champion).

Fightful's report notes that AEW wouldn't comment on what that wording meant for Moxley's status with GCW. As for GCW, they reportedly weren't aware of the press release until it happened, and don't know what it means for Moxley's availability.

Moxley is scheduled to wrestle Nick Gage in a title vs. career match on Saturday for GCW.

Fightful's report makes mention of Moxley expanding into behind-the-scenes coaching and mentoring in AEW. Talent that Fightful spoke to for their report, "...spoke highly of Moxley's influence and how much weight his words carried," in the talent meeting after All Out.
