Motor City Machine Guns celebrate victory in the ring with raised hands as the referee signals the win.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns have been on the WWE main roster for all of two weeks, debuting on the October 18 episode and winning a match involving A-Town Down Under and Los Garza to progress in a tournament to crown new number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships, held by The Bloodline.

On last night’s episode of SmackDown, they achieved the ultimate goal of any tag team in just their second week since debuting, and in just their third official match in WWE. They defeated Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano of DIY in the finals of the tournament before heading on to beat Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga of The Bloodline to become the brand new WWE Tag Team Champions. They were helped along by a distraction by Jey Uso, who enacted some revenge after The Bloodline were at the centre of his Intercontinental Championship loss on Monday Night RAW. His interference following a referee bump allowed MCMG to hit their Skull & Bones finisher to score the victory.

The pair have now won tag title gold in WWE, ROH, NJPW, and TNA. The reign of The Bloodline ends after 84 days.
