The go-home episode of Friday Night SmackDown prior to WWE’s first ever two-night SummerSlam premium live event featured a few surprises, such as John Cena’s babyface turn. It also featured the cameo and SmackDown debut of two names from AAA; Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown.
Reigning AAA World Tag Team Champions Los Garza issued an open challenge on SmackDown to any team, and this was answered by Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown, who emerged on SmackDown to a massive ovation. The two teams went back and forth, though Los Garza managed to retain their AAA World Tag Titles by the end, walking away victorious over the debuting duo.
There have been several developments when it comes to AAA in the last couple of weeks, with reports suggesting that WWE is intending to use the company as an NXT-esque developmental system. After Dominik Mysterio’s surprise appearance in AAA went down a storm, reports also emerged that WWE were considering an AAA Mega Title run for the current Intercontinental Champion. When it comes to further crossover following the appearances of Mr. Iguana & Psycho Clown, there have been some conflicting reports over the status of Alberto Del Rio, with an exclusive report from Cultaholic revealing some names in WWE have been pushing for his return.
