SmackDown was a night of new faces following the 2023 Draft, as several NXT call-ups made their presence known for the first time in their new home, with multiple debuts taking place.

Grayson Waller appeared backstage in a segment with Adam Pearce, negotiating his way to getting his own talk show to debut on next week’s May 19 episode of SmackDown in which he will host one half of the field to decide the new World Heavyweight Champion at Night of Champions 2023, AJ Styles.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre made their first appearance too, being shown backstage watching the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan as they defended their belts against Damage CTRL. Pretty Deadly would also show up, getting into a confrontation with the Brawling Brutes backstage.

Lastly, Cameron Grimes made his in-ring WWE debut on SmackDown this week as he defeated Baron Corbin in about five seconds, making an impactful start on the main roster.
