Multiple Titles Change Hands At IMPACT Slammiversary 2023

IMPACT Slammiversary 2023 saw several new champions crowned

It was an eventful night in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, as IMPACT Slammiversary saw several championships change hands.

On the pre-show, Joe Hendry saw his Digital Media Championship reign come to an end at the hands of Kenny King. Whilst Hendry was handily in control of the bout, he couldn’t account for outside shenanigans from Sheldon Jean, with Jean distracting the champ long enough for King to roll him up, King getting his feet on the ropes for extra leverage of course.

The Knockouts Tag Team Championships were the first titles on the line on the PPV, and the fresh team of Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich more than lived up to the hype, overcoming The Coven to win the titles in their first ever match as a team. The Coven looked to have the match sewn up, but Kelly stopped Killyn King in her tracks, allowing Masha to hit the Snowplow on Taylor Wilde for the three count.

In one of the upsets of the night, Lio Rush decimated Chris Sabin to win the X Division Championship. Rush levelled Sabin mid-entrance with a handspring kick and tope suicida, then after Sabin ignored doctor’s advice not to wrestle, Rush once again pounced with some athletic kicks and two Final hour frogsplashes to win the title in quick and dominant fashion.

After failing to earn a tag title shot, the reformed Rascalz ultimately decided the fate of the titles, interfering in a four way tag title match to take out champs ABC on the floor, as Subculture’s Mark Andrews nailed Brian Myers with a Shooting Star Press to take the titles from Bullet Club’s IMPACT contingent. Four title matches down, four new champions.

The title switches didn’t stop there, as Trinity overcame Deonna Purrazzo to become the new Knockouts World Champion. Purrazzo wore down Trinity’s arm in the hopes of getting a submission win, but Trinity fought on, overcoming everything Purrazzo threw at her, before locking in the Starstruck submission and getting the tap-out win and the championship.

Five title changes in total in one night. A marquee night for IMPACT Wrestling, and a changing of the guard across the board, save for the men’s World Championship, with Alex Shelley successfully defending the title against Nick Aldis.
