When arriving in AEW, it was known that Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin of the Hurt Syndicate would be in-ring performers, but it wasn’t known if MVP would follow suit given his last of time between the ropes over the last few years, competing in just two matches since July 2022.

However, it has been officially announced that MVP will return to the ring again, this time in his official in-ring AEW debut at the upcoming Dynamite: Maximum Carnage show on January 15. MVP will team up with fellow Hurt Syndicate members Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin in trios action, taking on the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) and Mark Briscoe, all of whom have had their share of issues with the Hurt Syndicate in recent weeks.

MVP’s comeback to the ring in 2024 saw him compete at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport back in November, and he followed this up with another match at a BCW show.

The updated card for AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage:

  • Jon Moxley (c) vs. Powerhouse Hobbs - AEW World Championship
  • Casino Gauntlet Match For A Women’s Title Shot At Grand Slam: Australia
  • Kenny Omega vs. Brian Cage
  • Christian Cage vs. Hook
  • The Hurt Syndicate vs. Private Party & Mark Briscoe
