Current AEW star MVP stepped back into the squared circle this past weekend, competing in his first match for over two years. His last match prior to this took place on the July 18, 2022 episode of WWE Raw.

It wasn't a traditional pro-wrestling match, however, as the 51-year-old was competing for Josh Barnett's shoot-style Bloodsport.

MVP met Barnett in the main event of Bloodsport XII in a bout that had a 20-minute time limit, rather than the 15-minute one that Bloodsport matches typically have.

The BJJ black belt was not victorious, however, passing out to the former UFC Heavyweight Champion's rear-naked choke for a TKO finish in around thirteen-and-a-half minutes. After the bell, MVP came to and choked the ref, thinking he was still fighting Barnett.

After the match, the two men put each other over on the microphone, with Barnett implying that MVP would be a threat in AEW.

MVP recently noted that he plans to wrestle and eventually retire in Tony Khan's promotion.

Elsewhere at Bloodsport XII, Josh Alexander defeated "Speedball" Mike Bailey and WWE NXT stars Charlie Dempsey and Kamen Petrovic competed. Dempsey defeated Tracey Williams by submission, while Petrovic beat Sumie Sakai via TKO.
