New Champion Crowned At IMPACT 1000

IMPACT 1000 saw a new champion crowned

September 14 saw the 1000th episode of IMPACT Wrestling air, and the big celebration of all things TNA/IMPACT kept rolling with the crowning of a new champion on the show.

Thursday's episode was night one of the 1000 celebrations, and the main event saw an X-Division Championship clash pitting Lio Rush against Chris Sabin. Ultimately it was Sabin’s night, and the Motor City Machine Gun avenged his brutal title loss to Rush at Slammiversary with a Shellshock and a Cradle Shock to regain the title.

The win makes Sabin a record-setting 10-time X-Division Champion, with his latest title win coming over 20 years after his first during the NWA: TNA weekly PPV era.

Sabin’s victory parade saw his peers in the locker room come to the ring and lift him aloft. As for Rush, his first run with the strap ends at the 56-day mark (the episode was pre-taped on September 9), and it remains to be seen if Rush will come back for another shot at the tile before he returns to New Japan Pro-Wrestling in October.
