New Champions Crowned On WWE NXT UK After Belts Are Vacated

Oliver Carter and Ashton Smith were scheduled to defend the WWE NXT UK Tag Team Titles on last night's show against NXT's Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs but the champions opened the show and announced they would be relinquishing the belts due to a ruptured MCL suffered by Ashton Smith. 

As a result, Briggs and Jensen faced Mark Andrews and Wild Boar, Dave Mastiff and Jack Starz, and Die Familie in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match for the vacant belts. After an 18-minute contest, Briggs and Jensen captured the titles, last eliminating Die Familie, to win their first belts in WWE. 

Briggs and Jensen have been a tag team in WWE since NXT was revamped in September of 2021 and they have primarily competed on the United States developmental brand, facing the likes of The Creed Brothers, Grizzled Young Veterans, and Legado Del Fantasma.

Other NXT talents have performed on NXT UK in recent months, including Briggs and Jensen's faction-mate Fallon Henley, Sarray, Roderick Strong, and Ivy Nile.
