Hayabusa hitting a Moonsault to Masato Tanaka

Hayabusa is back in professional wrestling with a new wrestler donning the mask.

The Hayabusa character was revived during Lucha Fiesta Especial at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday, April 27. The new Hayabusa defeated Masato Tanaka following a 10-minute match with the Firebird Splash. It was then announced after the match that Hayabusa will team with Jinsei Shinzaki against Masato Tanaka and Mammoth at Kawasaki Stadium on May 7.

It was revealed in January 2025 that a new Hayabusa would perform for Zero1 Wrestling later in the year, with the news being announced by Zero1 GM and FMW icon Megumi Kodo.

The original Hayabusa - Eiji Ezaki - was one of the top stars in FMW in the late 1990s, along with Atsushi Onita. He passed away in 2016 and is fondly remembered as one of the best pro wrestlers of all time, having innovated the Phoenix Splash, 450 Splash (Firebird Splash), and Falcon Arrow. Ezaki was an inspiration to countless wrestlers, including Will Ospreay.
