New Matches Set For WWE Raw Day 1

Several matches have been confirmed for WWE's show on Jan 1.

The January 1 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw is set to be a 'Day 1' special. Although not a premium live event, it looks as though WWE are interested in making it a slightly more noteworthy card than usual, with several matches having recently been confirmed.

Seth Rollins' next World Heavyweight Championship defence against Drew McIntyre was already confirmed for the show, but another title match was added last night. Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley will defend her title against Ivy Nile, after last week's victory over the challenger's friend Maxxine Dupri.

Elsewhere, a number one contender match will see Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark take on Natalya and Tegan Nox, with the winners securing a title shot against reigning Women's Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance (who won the belts on last night's show.)

Finally, the recent tension between Becky Lynch and Nia Jax will come to a head, as the pair are set to go one-on-one on the show as well. This will be the first televised singles match between the pair since Nia inadvertently broke Becky's nose in the build to Survivor Series 2018, a segment which considerably boosted Lynch's popularity at the time.
