New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo has received criticism over his appearance on WWE Raw from Madison Square Garden.
Skattebo and his New York Giants teammates Abdul Carter and Roy Robertson-Harris were front row for John Cena's final-ever Raw appearance, and they were involved in an angle with Judgment Day during the commercial break following the opening match. After Skattebo and his teammates came to the defence of podcaster Andrew Schulz, Skattebo came face-to-face with Dominik Mysterio and pushed over JD McDonagh, which resulted in a brief scuffle won by the NFL players.
The angle received huge cheers inside Madison Square Garden, but Skattebo has been criticised by New York radio hosts for getting involved in the angle while sidelined with a dislocated ankle and broken fibula. ESPN New York's Chris Carline said he "could not have been angrier at the just remarkable stupidity shown by Skattebo." Co-host Bart Scott, meanwhile, described Skattebo's involvement on Raw as "carelessness"
WFAN's Chris McMonigle stated "the optics are so bad" over Skattebo's Raw appearance, while Brandon Tierney called the appearance dumb.
Skattebo addressed the criticism soon after, posting on X/Twitter: "Aye, honestly if you don't like that I'm having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I'm not able to play football and have the fun I've been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y'all's week and just don't talk about me if you ain't got nothing nice to say."
While New York media were heavy with their criticism of Skattebo, a WWE source noted to TC of WrestleVotes that they were pleased with the angle. It has also been reported that the New York Giants were "so excited" to be involved in the angle after the team was approached by WWE.
Cam Skattebo has been one of the few bright spots for the New York Giants in 2025, as he and quarterback Jackson Dart have fuelled hope for the future amongst Giants fans in a season that will see the G-Men finish with a losing record for the 11th time in 13 seasons.
