For those who still tune in to Freeview in the UK, number 281 is the home of Extreme Channel, which airs several sports, notably MMA.

In recent months, the station has aired several professional wrestling events including a monthly NJPW special, some NORTH Wrestling events, HUSTLE, and a Burning Heart show that aired last night. With more wrestling coming to Extreme Channel, Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan reached out to Extreme Channel to see what’s what.

The sources he spoke to noted that Extreme Channel will be expanding their wrestling coverage over the next year, reaching a wider viewing audience due to airing in more regions around the country, in addition to having its own app. Currently, viewing figures sit between 6,000 and 7,000 for pro wrestling, but there are hopes to increase this going forwards. The channel is hoping to grow the British wrestling scene by working with even more independent promotions from around the UK, noting that they have reached out to various companies about airing shows.

When it comes to other streaming platforms that currently host wrestling such as Triller, Demand PROGRESS Plus, and more, the sources spoken to said that they don’t see any competition, and are only looking to help build the scene and promote more collaboration within the business.
