Nia Jax Crowned WWE Queen of the Ring

Nia Jax wins at WWE King and Queen of the Ring

The second-ever Queen of the Ring was crowned at the WWE King and Queen of the Ring pay-per-view in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 25.

The Queen of the Ring final pitted Raw's Lyra Valkyria against SmackDown's Nia Jax. Much of the action was dominated by the much larger Nia Jax as she repeatedly tried to connect with her Annihilator Banzai Drop finisher. Nia Jax whiffed on the Banzai Drop on two occasions before she proceeded to kill Lyra Valkyria with the Annihilator as the former NXT Women's Champion went for a Powerbomb in the corner. With Valkyria dead, Jax covered her to become the Queen of the Ring.

Nia Jax advanced to the final through the SmackDown bracket, having been moved to Friday nights in the WWE Draft. She defeated Naomi, Jade Cargill, and Bianca Belair to reach the final.

With her win, Nia Jax will challenge for the WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam on August 3 in Cleveland, Ohio. Bayley is the reigning WWE Women's Champion, having captured the gold from IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40.

Elsewhere at King and Queen of the Ring, Liv Morgan became the new Women's World Champion, using interference to her advantage to defeat Becky Lynch.
