Nia Jax Reveals When She Was Told About Headlining WWE Elimination Chamber

WWE told Nia Jax she was main eventing Elimination Chamber not long before the show

For the first time in her WWE career, Nia Jax headlined a WWE PLE at last month’s Elimination Chamber show in Perth, Australia, challenging Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s World Championship in a losing effort. Although there was some expectation from fans going into the show about what the main event would be due to Ripley being WWE’s biggest Australian star, Nia Jax didn’t find out about being in the main event spot until 24 hours before.

She revealed this on the Hall Of Fame podcast when speaking to Booker T.

"I didn't know until, I think the night before. I think somebody sent a card to me and I'm like, wait a minute. Does this mean that we're in the main event? I'm not going to lie. It felt like a lot of pressure because you had some pretty stacked Elimination Chambers and a great tag on the card. Then you had the Grayson Waller Effect. Being the main event of that show was a pretty big deal for me and I just wanted to put on the best match I possibly could with a great story, you know, easy with Rhea Ripley, but I wanted to be able to tell a really good story to the fans and hope that it resonated to them. It was an honor to be in the main event in front of all those people."

Ripley scored the victory in front of her friends and family, retaining the WWE Women’s World Championship in what was the first women’s PLE main event match on the WWE main roster since WrestleMania 37 in 2021, when Bianca Belair took on Sasha Banks.
