Matt Hardy Says Darby Allin's Controversial Spot At AEW Revolution Was Appropriate For The Match

Matt Hardy was a fan of Darby Allin's glass spot at Revolution

At the 2024 AEW Revolution PPV, Sting competed in his retirement match, teaming up with Darby Allin to successfully defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks. During the match, Darby Allin took a huge leap of faith from a ladder, crashing outside of the ring through a pane of glass sitting on a collection of chairs that left him needing stitches. This spot has caused some controversy amongst the wrestling world.

Someone who was a fan of the spot and thought it was appropriate for the occasion was Matt Hardy, who explained as such on The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast

"I love the fact that it's a polarizing thing, the thing that Darby did where he jumped out into the sheet of glass and the chairs and whatnot and he was out for the match. I think that spot was appropriate in many ways. I'm not saying that's something that I would have specifically done, but I understand Darby. I know how he thinks and he is the true definition of what the Hardy Boys were supposed to be. He is a total adrenaline junkie that wants to just keep upping and upping and upping and upping and upping and upping the bar and doing something more crazy. He's a true daredevil, almost masochistic in some ways, but you know, he did this. He's out and you have Sting defend off both of the Young Bucks and you put him in a very vulnerable, jeopardised position which I loved.”

Hardy stated that he loved every minute of the match, how Sting was treated, and especially how the final stretch of the bout unfolded. There is certainly a divided camp when it comes to this spot, but Hardy is someone who was a fan.
