Jon Moxley staring at Bryan Danielson who is down on the mat

AEW star Nigel McGuinness has reacted to the end of Bryan Danielson's full-time in-ring career.

The American Dragon dropped the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley at this past Saturday's WrestleDream pay-per-view. After the match, Wheeler Yuta turned on Danielson and attacked him with a plastic bag and the show ended with the 43-year-old being stretchered out of the arena.

Speaking about the scene during the post-WrestleDream media scrum, McGuinness said:

"No, I don't think anyone can question Brian's determination, and I said it on the show tonight. I thought about the end of his career for a long time, but when it actually happened, it wasn't what I expected".

Though he is technically a free agent, Danielson is not expected to sign for another company. He will undergo neck surgery at some point in the near future, after which those in AEW expect him to stick around and wrestle sporadically.

The former WWE Champion will have his hands full at home, having recently revealed that his son Buddy was kicked out of school for biting and eye gouging his teachers.
