As is tradition, New Japan Pro-Wrestling held their 52nd Anniversary Show on Wednesday, March 6 at Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
The show was once again headlined by a singles match between the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion as Tetsuya Naito went one-on-one with SHO, who only won the junior heavyweight belt at New Beginning in Sapporo by count-out. SHO, being a part of House of Torture, tried his usual cheating methods as he attacked Naito's already ruined knees with several chair shots while referee Red Shoes Uno was down.
Naito was able to make it back into the ring before the 20 count but SHO remained on top for the next several minutes, working over Naito until the leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon connected with a Destino out of nowhere. Another ref bump followed soon after and House of Torture's EVIL, Ren Narita, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Yujiro Takahashi came to the ring to interfere, only to be taken out by the rest of Los Ingobernables de Japon.
SHO still attempted to hit Naito with a wrench but the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion ducked and caught him with a swift kick to the nether regions. Valentia then followed before a second Destino for the win.
Outside of the main event, NJPW kicked off the New Japan Cup with three first-round matches. Toru Yano managed to defeat Yujiro Takahashi by count-out after he handcuffed the Tokyo Pimp to an NJPW official at ringside, while YOSHI-HASHI picked up a win over KENTA. Jack Perry then made his full NJPW in-ring debut and defeated Shota Umino following interference from House of Torture's Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Ren Narita. The rest of House of Torture came to the ring after the match and Jack Perry ended up joining the stable.
CHAOS may soon get a new member too as Tomohiro Ishii and El Desperado shook hands following their win together in a multi-man match on the undercard.
