NJPW Coming To UK & US TV "Soon"

International expansion continues...

An advert during the Wrestle Kingdom 15 intermission revealed New Japan Pro-Wrestling content will be arriving on TV in the United States and the United Kingdom "soon." NJPW didn't provide any further information, but commentator Kevin Kelly noted more details would be released at some point in the future.

New Japan's announcement comes shortly after a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Online. Meltzer stated the promotion is very close to an English-language TV deal and could make an official announcement at any time.

The new TV deal will mark the promotion's return to US television. New Japan content previously aired on AXS TV from 2014 until December 2019. The deal was expected to run until January 2021 but both sides agreed to terminate the relationship early. IMPACT Wrestling's parent company, Anthem, purchased AXS TV in September 2019 and IMPACT! continues to air on the TV station weekly.

The deal will also continue New Japan's expansion into the UK. The company held their first independently promoted show in the country back in October 2019 and planned to return in 2020. Those plans were scrapped because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, however.
