In news that will shock absolutely nobody, New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced today that Wrestle Kingdom 18 will take place on January 4, 2024 at the Tokyo Dome. For the second year in a row, the event will only be one night after Wrestle Kingdom became a two-night event from the Tokyo Dome in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

No matches have been announced for Wrestle Kingdom 18 as of yet but one of the competitors in the main event of the show will be revealed next month upon the conclusion of G1 Climax 33. New Japan's biggest tournament of the year will get underway on July 15 and run until the final on August 13, with the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Yota Tsuji, Tetsuya Naito, Kaito Kiyomiya, and Eddie Kingston in action across the four blocks.

New Japan have held at least one show every year at the Tokyo Dome since 1992 and the January 4 show has been Wrestle Kingdom since 2007. Past classic Wrestle Kingdom main events include the trilogy of matches Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi had between 2013 and 2016, Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada in 2017, and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kenny Omega from Wrestle Kingdom 13.
